The Reality

AI is everywhere in your stack.
And you can’t see all of it.

Epic flipped on three new features last week. Your radiologist wants a fourth tool. Microsoft is asking about your Copilot rollout. Your board wants ROI on the AI you’ve already bought. And you’re the phone call when something breaks.

Tsunami 01

Vendors Flip AI On Without Asking

Epic. Workday. Your scheduling tool. Your ERP. Features ship in updates you already approved. You didn’t buy “AI.” It arrived inside things you already own.

Tsunami 02

Your AI Inventory Doesn’t Match Reality

Claude in legal. Copilot in admin. ChatGPT Enterprise in some pocket of the org. Plus the clinical point solutions. Nobody has a single list. Nobody knows what’s actively running.

Tsunami 03

The 3 AM Call Is Yours

When something breaks, the page hits the CIO, not the committee. Outcomes live with clinicians. Compliance lives with the safety officer. Uptime, reliability, and the explanation to the board live with you.

Tsunami 04

Your Clinicians Are Buying AI Without You

Your radiologist gets taken out to golf and comes back wanting a new AI tool. Your residents want to let it rip. Your administrators want Copilot. Every department brings a different ask. You broker them all.

Tsunami 05

Your Board Wants ROI You Can’t Yet Produce

You’re spending millions on AI tools and models. The board wants the story. Most teams stop at “the tool ran X times.” The climb up to throughput, diagnoses, and outcomes ... that ladder is where the board lives. We help you climb it.

The Result

You’re In Every Maturity Lane At Once

Board-ready governance in your clinical AI. Wild West in your Copilot rollout. Solid on your Epic core. No idea what flipped on yesterday. The maturity scale is dead. The work is gap-by-gap, lane-by-lane.

Why Safety Matters

In healthcare, “safe” means two things.
Safe now. And safe over time.

Anyone can move fast. In healthcare, speed without safety is a headline, and safety that doesn’t hold is a false promise. Safe and reliable AI adoption is the line between AI that protects your patients and AI that becomes your next class action.

Safety

Safe now

In healthcare, an AI error isn’t a typo. It’s a patient. And because AI scales, one flawed decision doesn’t harm one patient ... it reaches thousands at once. Safety is the floor you never move below, no matter how fast you go.

Reliability

Safe over time

Safe today isn’t safe forever. AI models drift as the data shifts beneath them. A tool that passed review in January can quietly go wrong by June. Reliability is safety that holds ... monitored and maintained, never assumed.

This isn’t theoretical. The cost of unsafe AI is already on the docket:

  • Recorded without consent. Patients are suing California health systems over an ambient AI scribe that recorded their visits without consent, under the state’s Invasion of Privacy Act and the federal Wiretap Act. Class actions vs. Sutter, MemorialCare & Sharp HealthCare, 2026 (the Abridge scribe).
  • Care denied by algorithm. A major insurer faces a class action alleging it used AI to deny Medicare Advantage patients post-acute care, with roughly 90% of appealed denials later overturned. Estate of Lokken v. UnitedHealth (nH Predict).
  • The law caught up. California now requires AI patient communications to disclose the AI (AB 3030) and bars health plans from letting AI deny care on medical necessity (SB 1120). Both effective Jan 1, 2025.
New for 2026

Responsible AI now has a
Joint Commission certification.

The Joint Commission’s Responsible Use of AI in Health Care (RUAIH) certification is the first recognized, third-party standard for governing AI across its full lifecycle. It will be on the agenda of every health system board. Our AI Assurance Framework is built to get you ready, and keep you there.

01

Governance

Board-level oversight and a standing AI committee. Our Management & Structure pillar.

02

Effective Data Management

Secure data, privacy, and cybersecurity behind every model. Our Technology pillar.

03

Risk & Bias Reduction

Clinical-risk and bias controls at every point a tool meets a patient. Our Compliance & Clinical Risk pillar.

04

Monitoring & Validation

Live monitoring across the lifecycle, so drift is caught before a patient is. Built into every engagement.

05

Transparency, Education & Training

Patient transparency and clinician training that sticks. Our People pillar.

Five domains the Joint Commission scores. Five pillars we already build to. Plus the board-ready ROI the certification doesn’t even ask for.

Why Change

The playbook that built your reliability
wasn’t built for AI.

Your protocols, reviews, and frameworks worked because the systems they governed behaved predictably. AI is probabilistic. It learns, it drifts, and it scales one decision across every patient at once. Same discipline, new playbook.

Win Condition: Move Fast AND Safe

What’s Most Important Before AI Yesterday’s Digital Playbook Built for AI Today’s AI Playbook
Risk Visibility Lagging Real-time
Risk Scale Per patient System-wide
Decision Logic Predictable Probabilistic
Feedback Periodic Continuous
Oversight Committee Embedded

Today’s AI playbook doesn’t replace what you built. It extends it.

AI Adoption Framework

Our 5-pillar framework (Management Structure, Technology, Financial, Compliance + Clinical Risk, People) deployed across the full AI life cycle: intake, testing, scaling, monitoring, validation. Not a broad catch-all governance category, the stratified way to actually implement, manage, and monitor.

Outcome: AI adoption you can defend at every phase, from board approval to bedside.

AI Workflow Optimization

We roll up our sleeves with your clinical teams to redesign AI-touched workflows. Where AI helps, where it doesn’t, where humans verify, where feedback loops close. The operational layer most consultants skip because it’s the hard part.

Outcome: Workflows where AI actually streamlines care, instead of adding cleanup work.

The Cost of Standing Still

What happens to the AI
you’re not watching?

Every month the AI you can’t see keeps running, the gap between what’s deployed and what’s governed grows. Your committee meets quarterly. The vendors ship weekly.

The Backlog Grows

Every vendor demo, every flipped feature, every department’s ask waits on you. Without a playbook to run them through, the pile grows faster than you can clear it.

You Stay Reactive

With no plan, every AI decision is a fire drill. You answer for tools after they’re live, not before. The cost isn’t one incident. It’s never getting ahead.

Board Blindness

Your board is asking about AI. Can you tell them exactly what’s running, what it risks, and what it returns? Or just that you “invested in technology”?

Shadow AI Spreads

When governance lags, clinicians route around it. They adopt tools you haven’t vetted, on systems you don’t control. The safety exposure grows, and the shadow AI you’ll answer for later grows with it.

Unproven ROI

Millions spent on AI with no way to climb from tool-level metrics to board-level outcomes. The CFO sees cost. The board sees risk. Nobody sees performance.

Competitive Erosion

The health systems that adopt AI safely and govern it well will attract talent, patients, and partnerships. The ones that stall will explain why, to a board that already knows peers moved first.
